In recognition of today’s very personal 5 year anniversary, the Anemone seemed to be the perfect flower to represent the day. Its dual contrasting meanings of fading hope and anticipation seem oddly appropriate as representing the past and the present.
I also appreciate the fact that historically the anemone was believed to spring from Aphrodite’s tears as she mourned the death of Adonis. Yet today we know that in small doses, they are believed to be helpful in respiratory issues (maybe I should suggest this to my doctors!) and an appropriate gift for those stepping into a new stage of life.
As somebody embracing a very different way of life currently I love the symbolism of this.
The last 5 years have been extremely eventful and involved a great deal of work on myself. For my fellow DBT graduates and anybody else working their way towards healing & health – here’s to a life worth living!
